When Is e-Commerce Right For Your Business

Your business is a big part of your life. Before making any decisions, you should go in well informed. One of the decisions that you will have to make at some point in your career is when to, if ever, start e-commerce. Working on the internet can help some businesses to make millions of dollars while other businesses might struggle in multiple ways.

In this article we are going to cover how to determine whether or not e-commerce is right for your business and when to make that decision.

Can You Keep Up With The Demand?

If you have a truly powerful product, the internet is going to love it. Is your business ready to keep up with the demand for your product? Not being able to keep up with your demand will result in a lot of stress and a loss of sales. You should have an estimate of how much demand you will face versus your current capabilities.

It is important to note at this point that very few factors are a guarantee. You can only make an educated guess at how well your business will do.

Do You Have A Local Or Extremely Niche Product?

Those who have a product that is very localized or a niche product, you will find it difficult to make sales online. Before you start e-commerce you need to have a thorough plan about how you will attract enough business to offset the cost of your online presence. In some cases you may not be able to and it is wiser just to focus on your local clientele.

Is Your Product Finished?

Unfinished products are sometimes offered as presales online. A company that is well-established can easily do this but a new business on their first, second, or even third product could have problems. There are a lot of potential draw backs to doing online presales, such as people not paying or over anticipating/under anticipating the demand. At the same time, if you have a good plan and help presales can help finance your product launch.

Are You Ready To Manage Your Web Presence?

Overall, selling online can have a lot of benefits. Just like selling in person, you will have to manage your sales. With e-commerce you will also have to manage your web presence. From keeping your website up to date to working social media there is a lot to do. However, you will save time in other places as online sales are simpler.

Consider How You Are Going To Stock Your Product

Knowing how you want to stock your product makes a big difference. It is a decision you need to make before you are ready to start selling online. Are you going to make your products to order or keep a good amount of stock on hand? Are you going to handle shipping and product management on your own or are you going to use a third-party such as Amazon? Each option can be right, it all depends on your business and your product.

Do You Already Have A Web Presence?

Building up a web presence can be quite difficult. Especially on short notice. If you already have a web presence you might already be prepared to move into e-commerce. However, it might be wise to build up your presence if you don’t currently have much online reputation.

The most important thing to do before you start e-commerce is to prepare a plan first. Without a plan you won’t have a guide for your e-commerce efforts and business without a plan is bound to fail. Once you answer these questions it is time to start planning. Once you have a plan in place, you can start to prepare your e-commerce.

Ways To Eat Healthy On The Go

Most people who end up eating on the go turn to fast food because it is easy. Fast food is not a sustainable option and it also isn’t healthy. For those that don’t have a choice but to eat on the go, we will explore some of the best ways to eat healthy while you are busy.

The number one thing to do in order to stay healthy while on the go is to plan ahead of time. This article already shows that you are at least at the initial phase of planning, education. When it comes to eating on the go, you shouldn’t plan weeks in advance. Take it one week at a time to keep your planning fresh.

Don’t Buy Junk Food In The First Place

If you have junk food in the house, you are going to eat it. When it comes to eating healthy skip the junk food at the store altogether. Leave junk food as a special treat and buy it in extremely small quantities when you do buy it. Junk food also does not come with the best portions out there.

Find Easy To Prepare Snacks

Some foods are easier to prepare than others. You can quickly bag up some nuts or slice some apples for great snacks on the go. Both are great boosters to your energy level. The more healthy snacks you have ready, the less likely you will be to crave other foods. Prepackaged snacks such as Greek yogurt and cheese sticks are options too. Just make sure to read the labels.

Pick Foods That Will Last Several Days

Those who are on the go won’t have time to go to the store every few days. Make sure that you pick up foods that will last for at least a few days. Prepare and eat foods that go bad first. Nuts, popcorn, apple sauce, cheese, dark chocolate, and eggs last for days. Frozen foods also last for a while depending on the food.

Prepare For Your Workday

Your workday is where you are probably the busiest. In order to prevent eating out or snacking from the vending machine, prepare lunch and snacks for your workday. Most of us can’t eat our food all at one time. Instead, try to eat the majority at lunch time and have a few snacks throughout the day.

Use A Slow Cooker

One of the great things about a slow cooker is that you can put your food in and let it cook. You don’t need to do any work while it is cooking. Not only does a slow cooker work with very little attention but it can create large batches for a whole week. If the cooker is done before you are ready to package your food, you can leave it on warm to keep it hot.

Write Down Your Plan

Eating plans are far more effective when you take the time to write them down. Get a dry erase weekly calendar or print out a calendar every week. This will help you to stay on track. Staying on track is one of the hardest parts when it comes to preparing your food in advance. A part that almost everyone has at least some trouble with.

Eating healthy on the go doesn’t have to be hard. By the time you start to enact these various steps you will be starting a habit. Habits will allow you to continue the healthy eating without hard work. At times you may want to cheat but you will have to find special health treats in order to stay on the right path.

How To Save Big On Your Next Flight

Flying isn’t cheap most of the time. When it comes time to plan your flight you want to be able to save as much money as possible. But how do you go about saving money? There are a good number of ways that you can save money. Take a look at these savings tips.

Start Looking Early

For those that know they are going to be traveling early, you can get some of the best deals when you start watching prices early. You will want to make the purchase before prices start rising and before seats start selling out. Some travel websites will show you the average price of the ticket so that you can know if you are getting a good idea.

Six weeks in advance or more save you the most money, so book before that six-week mark if you can.

Flexibility Saves

Being flexible with your travel dates is the best way to save you money. The days you travel on as well as the dates themselves matter when it comes to prices. Airlines change their prices due to demand and need to fill seats. Try various combinations of travel days to help find the best price available.

Some third-party booking sites now allow you to select how flexible you are with your travel dates. When you select this, you will see cheaper routes/dates if yours is not the cheapest.

Book The Right Seat

The seat that you choose can make a difference in your price. For those who have bags that they want to guarantee storage for in the upper bins, sitting in the back of the plane can help to ensure that you get a spot (the majority of airlines book from the back forward). And if you want to have extra leg room without upgrading your seat, choose an exit row. Exit rows don’t have storage in front of the seat but they are also spaced further apart than a traditional seat in regular class.

Check Multiple Sites

Before you purchase any airline ticket you will want to check multiple travel sites. No one site consistently offers the best prices. Prices vary by the website that you use to book. Don’t forget to check airline websites too as tickets are still sold directly from airlines. Look through every option you have and compare the prices. But before you buy, read the next tip.

Call The Airline Directly

Many people don’t realize that you can still call the airline directly to get prices. When you call the airline, you can often get discounts that aren’t publicized. There are also regular discounts that aren’t publicized such as reduced fares for those who are traveling for certain reasons.

Sign Up For Travel Rewards

If you are a frequent traveler there is no reason to not sign up for a travel rewards program. Most airlines have a rewards program that you can use to get points and even booking agencies, such as, allow you to input these numbers to get credit for flights. In addition to the programs by airlines, many third-party booking sites offer their own rewards programs that you can sign up for. When you sign up for these you can get double the rewards that will allow you to save in the future.

Use Credit Cards For CashBack

Along the same lines as the above tip, you can use your credit card to save you money when you are booking air travel. When you use a credit card with cashback or other rewards you can purchase your tickets then pay your credit card off right away. This allows you to add to the money you get back from flying.

Use these tips to maximize the savings you get the next time you fly. If you utilize them all effectively, you can save yourself hundreds of dollars on airfare. The most important one to remember is to act early as prices start rising quickly.

Cities Where Ubering Is Cheaper Than Owning A Car

Owning a car has a lot of costs. If you want to live without a car you want to have plenty of options available. Many people are surprised to learn that there are a number of cities where Ubering is cheaper than owning a car. A 2018 report from Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers discussed which cities are better to Uber in than to own a car. Let’s take a look at these four cities and the pro’s and con’s of an uber only lifestyle.

Here are the top cities along with the cost for Ubering versus the cost of owning a personal car.

  • New York City
    • Personal Car Cost: $218
    • Uber Cost: $142
  • Chicago
    • Personal Car Cost: $116
    • Uber Cost: $77
  • Washington D.C.
    • Personal Car Cost: $130
    • Uber Cost: $96
  • Los Angeles
    • Personal Car Cost: $89
    • Uber Cost: $62

Pros Of Ubering Instead Of Owning A Car

The biggest pro of Ubering instead of owning a car is not having to pay for gas or maintenance. Gas stops and maintenance stops can quickly start to cost you a lot of money. And nothing is more frustrating than having a surprise mechanic bill to fix your car when it is broken.

If you don’t own a car you also don’t need to pay for car insurance. Car insurance can be a big cost, especially if you are younger. Some people pay hundreds of dollars a month in order to be able to drive. Only two states don’t require that you have auto insurance.

No need to wash the car. Having to stop to wash the car can be a pain. Even if you use a drive through car wash that can take time out of your day and it isn’t free.

When you own your own car you have to worry about keeping it safe and parking it. Parking in many cities, such as the ones on this list, can be very difficult. And very costly. You also have to worry about getting everything out of your car so it doesn’t get broken into. If your car is broken into, you have to worry about fixing everything and replacing it too.

Cons Of Ubering Instead Of Owning A Car

Often times the most annoying and complicated part of Ubering is having to wait for a ride. You can’t do a last minute, quick ride to Taco Bell. You will have to wait for your Uber to get there. Sometimes Uber can be to you in a matter of minutes, but some people have to wait 10 or more minutes in order for a ride to get there. If you are in a rush, this can be frustrating.

The cost of an Uber can be a big problem. With these cities it can be cheaper to use an Uber but there will be times where you will have to walk or use other transportation because it is simply too expensive. Peek and event times are a good example of this. You also have to factor in tipping when making the decision to go Uber only.

You might have limitations when it comes to using Uber. Uber has a limited number of passengers that you can take. It also means that the driver might not be able to take dogs or certain items. If a driver won’t take your pet you will have to wait for another ride to show up.

Going Uber only from owning a car is a big decision. However, if you live in one of these cities or are moving, Uber can be a big benefit to you. You will save a lot of money and be able to save time too if you plan right. Make sure to regularly check whether Uber or Lyft is cheaper for you.

Are The Savings Worth The Higher Price Tag On Electric Cars?

More and more car companies are coming out with electric cars. Whether it is the Nissan Leaf, the Tesla Model 3, the Chevrolet Bolt EV, or any of the other electric cars out on the market, people have been buying these up. Statistics show that the Tesla Model 3 is the 6th best selling car in the United States. These cars are definitely popular but that doesn’t mean that they are actually saving people money.

Educated consumers are wanting to know whether the savings of an electric car are worth the higher price tag of these vehicles. Let’s break this down and find out whether or not you will be saving anything.

One of the first things that you need to consider when buying an electric car is whether you are trying to save money on gas or save the environment. Electric cars are great for the environment and do not emit nearly as much harmful pollutants. In that sense, you will be saving the environment. Most people are just as concerned about saving their bank account too.

In the United States, the average consumer vehicle costs about $36,000. On the other hand, the average price of an electric car is just over $55,000. This price tag may initially turn you away from getting an electric vehicle but there are a few things to consider that may make this price tag worth it to you.

First, Tesla now sells the Model 3 at a retail price of $38,990 before any kind of incentives or dealership deals. This is only $3,000 over the average consumer car cost. If you are looking for a Tesla, this price is not that much higher and the amount of money you will save on gas compared to a car of a similar size will help to offset the several thousand dollars more. A Nissan Leaf is even more affordable at $29,990.

A federal tax credit for electric vehicles in the United States starts at $2,500. For the first 5 KW hours, you get another $417 of tax credit. After that, you get another $417 for every additional KW hour after the first 5. This tax credit is claimed in the year that you purchase the car. While you may have to pay the full price of the car upfront, you can potentially get the maximum federal tax credit of $7,500 depending on the specs of the EV you choose.

Many states have programs that offer additional savings to go with the federal credit. One of the common benefits is that you are exempt from fuel emission inspections, this saves you testing fees and time when it comes to renewing your vehicle registration. Another common benefit is an exemption from state sales tax or reduced sales tax on the sale of an electric vehicle. Some states have an electric rebate for the installation (and sometimes the use of) electric vehicle chargers.

The average cost of gas for a person driving an electric vehicle in the US is about $1,100 a year. The cost of charging an electric car is about $450. That leaves you with about a $650 savings a year.

It is also hard to determine the exact nature of savings from maintenance but from what we have seen of electric vehicles, they do not require nearly as much maintenance. Fewer parts reduce the amount of wear and tear on a car.

Depending on what state you live in, you can significantly reduce the cost of buying an electric car. With just the federal tax credit, you can reduce the price of a Nissan Leaf down to the price of a typical entry-level car. You may end up paying more upfront but you can definitely make buying an electric car worth it.
